Checked that all links are working and the $10 Gift Card links are active as of July 10, 2020

Capterra gift card proff

Like many of you, I have been seeing those Capterra ads on Facebook offering $10 for a review write-up. So I thought I would go ahead and try it and see if it’s legit.

Before you begin use this link: Capterra

If you don’t see an image like below specifically letting you know your review is worth $10, then you won’t be eligible for the gift card. And if you do a review without a splash screen like this, it will basically be a free review for them. Use the campaign link above so you will be eligible.

You need LinkedIn:

You need to have a valid LinkedIn account that is older than 6 months. The Review Team verifies this information. And they are currently only allowing US reviewers. Capterra offers clear guidelines of what they are looking for in the reviews and what their expectations are. If you follow them, getting the gift card will be a breeze. Create your profile with your LinkedIn account and get ready to review some software.

Next, pick a software you use and can honestly review. For this example, I chose Asana, something I use daily. The first page asks about you and your company including what industry you work in. You can check that little box at the bottom if you want your review to be anonymous.

Follow the instruction on the next page. Write your pros and cons, overall assessment, and any other details you’d like to share. They have a link on the page to help you write a well-written review. Once done, you have to prove you aren’t a bot then submit.

I got my Gift Card link where I could choose from various types, I chose an Amazon Gift Card.

Now that you know how Capterra works, let’s cover the pros and cons:

Pro

  • It’s 100% legit
  • There are various choices of gift cards
  • The turn around time is under 8 days for most
  • Lots of software to choose from 30k, you’ll probably find several you already use like Google Docs
  • It takes 10-15 minutes

Con

  • You have to have a LinkedIn account
  • You need to be using the software you are reviewing (the have a very stern fraud policy)

Conclusion:

This is a great way to get $10 for 15 minutes of work. There are people who claim you can use the link up to 10 times and write reviews and get $100, but I have not been able to confirm that. I have just written a second one for Mailchimp and will update this article if I do get another gift card.

The Skinny:

The Hustle Team is not an affiliate of Capterra and there are no referral links.
